Awarding scholarships to underprivileged children in Vietnam

In rural regions across Vietnam, children who have disabilities or come from disadvantaged backgrounds have a higher risk of dropping out of school. To help break down these socio-economic barriers, our teams have awarded scholarships to students in need.

What’s the issue?

In rural regions across Vietnam, children who have disabilities or come from disadvantaged backgrounds have a higher risk of dropping out of school. This can be detrimental to their development and leave them at greater risk of unemployment, exploitation and discrimination, in addition to shortening their life expectation.

How are we addressing it?

Proactively contributing to our communities has always been fundamental to Forvis Mazars and the way we do business. As education is a top priority of our firm, our teams in Vietnam were determined to play their part in helping to break down the socio-economic barriers for children living in rural and mountainous regions of Vietnam.

Our teams joined forces with the Vietnam Association of Certified Public Accountants, the Communist Youth Union and the Ministry of Planning and Investment in 2023 to support a variety of local charity events to support the students. In addition, Forvis Mazars in Vietnam donated laptops to children in Nam Nhun district of Lai Chau province and awarded 20 scholarships to children in Voong Boong village of Gia Lai province.

What is the lasting impact?

The goal of these initiatives is to help the children complete their general education and create a direct pathway to higher education. In doing so, these children will have more opportunities to pursue their dreams and have a better quality of life.

Commenting on the initiative, Huyen Nguyen, Managing Partner, Forvis Mazars, Vietnam, said:

“Education is vital to societal advancement, and a well-educated population enhances the workforce, allowing our country to compete in the global market and grow economically. We do believe that great things always stem from small acts of kindness, and we hope that our efforts will provide children with better learning opportunities to pursue their dreams and have a better life in the future.”
